St-Viateur Bagel
The Home of Montreal's Iconic Bagels
Look no further than St-Viateur Bagel for the perfect blend of chewy, crispy, smoky and sweet Montreal bagels. Made in true artisanal fashion, every St-Viateur bagel is hand rolled by master bakers and boiled in honey water before being baked in a wood-burning oven. As the New York Times called them: ”Bagels like none other!”
Established in 1957, St-Viateur Bagel is a family business and Montreal’s longest-running bagel shop. The bakery was founded by Myer Lewkowicz, who moved to Montreal to start a new life after surviving WWII. He discovered a new joy in the bagel trade, for himself and the community, a legacy that proudly continues today.
Passionate and dedicated to the humble art of bagel making, St-Viateur Bagel has become a popular tourist attraction featured in many Montreal history tours. Their expertly crafted bagels have won the hearts of local bagel lovers, tourists and foodies everywhere.
So what makes a Montreal bagel so special? It is light and crunchy. You can smear it with cream cheese, layer it with smoked salmon, or simply enjoy it toasted!
